What is your favorite location, place, building, or spot in Royalton? Why?

I think where I live.

What is the most challenging aspect of life in a small Vermont town like Royalton?

As a business owner, business. You have to really work really hard to stay in business.

What Royalton resident made a positive difference in your life?

My father and my grandfather.

What do you want people to know about your town?

It's a beautiful little community to live in. Very friendly, you know your neighbors- most of them. I just love small towns, I guess that's why I'm here.

What is wish for your life? What is a wish for your town?

To keep this community small and hopefully the younger generation will continue. This organization here is the fire and rescue association which is all volunteer. I should say until a couple of years ago we had to go to a paid rescue service because it was really hard to keep the rescue truck staffed at all times. Because people work out of town. There isn't a lot of business in town to support volunteers. But the fire department is still going too. We can do that because we have other surrounding towns that still volunteer and we have an Upper Valley Mutual Aid system with 30+ towns.

How long have you been a part of the Fire Department?

I've been on the fire department for 30 years. I was fire chief for 10 years. I stepped down this year. My father before me was fire chief for 30 years and has been on the fire department for 66 or 67 years.
