What is your favorite location, place, building, or spot in Royalton? Why?

Johnson Hill, up where I built my new home. It's beautiful up there. Got a lot of the old acreage, and it's peaceful and quiet. We have too many people moving in here that are strangers.

What do you think makes Royalton unique or different from other places you have lived or visited?

We have a law college, it's the only one in VT, makes it very unique.

What is the most challenging aspect of life in a small Vermont town like Royalton?

Save up money enough for a decent retirement, plan ahead. A lot of our young people aren't getting a good education, that's bad. They need a good college education.

What Royalton resident made a positive difference in your life?

Probably I've had to make my own positive difference because I was brought up on a farm we were poor. I worked very hard and I learned, went in the military, the army right out of high school. From there went on to college and probably going to college has made the best, I won't say any one professor but it helped me to get a good job.

What do you want people to know about your town?

It's still reasonably quiet. We have some drug problems but it's better than a lot of areas. I've lived many places I've lived in Kentucky and I've lived in … and I've been away in the service. You know, drugs are a serious problem today and we're not free of it but we're better than some.

What is wish for your life? What is a wish for your town?

To remain small. Not to go big city ideas.
